Talking about Tyne Daly means going back to ‘Judging Amy’! The Tony Award winner actress Tyne Daly is best known for her appearance on the popular CBS Network series ‘Judging Amy’. On the show, we saw her as Maxine McCarty Gray. She was the widowed mother of Amy. At the beginning of the show, Maxine was shown as a retired social worker for DCF (the Department of Children and Families). She returned to her job soon.
On ‘Judging Amy’, Tyne was seen as a lady who could go to any lengths for the welfare of children in her care, even if it meant to bend the law. Maxine Gray was a very strong woman with always high opinions. One of her biggest personality trait was that she was capable to hold the long chip on her shoulder. An example comes to my mind in such scenario; she didn’t talk to her brother for 12 years. Though she restricted herself to not to talk to her brother, she always loved his family. Her relationship with Amy also didn’t run very smoothly at times. The sole reason behind so was that both were not very alike. The different personality traits always come in the way of their relationship. Even then, the mother and daughter helped Judging Amy to become one of the popular TV shows of the network.
Maxine never led an easy life. When it seemed that her life would take its direction, after she got engaged to Jared Duff, the rich businessman, the bad luck knocked at her door. Jared died 48 hours before the wedding. She also dealt with serious health issues throughout the run of the series.
