Amy Brenneman’s the journey from Judging Amy to Private Practice
Neither the channels nor the shows are the same, but the one we are in love with, is the very same. The shows mentioned here are Judging Amy, CBS Network and Private Practice, ABC Network and the one is Amy Brenneman. How smartly she transmitted from the courtroom of Judging Amy to the office of a shrink? Actually, this is what makes an actor/actress successful, the ability to get absorbed into each and every role.
On Judging Amy, a series as long as six successful seasons, we see her portraying the character of Amy Gray who is a New York based young judge. After getting separated from her husband, she returned to her childhood home in Hartford, Connecticut and starts serving as a judge. Supporting her was her mother, Daly, who was working as a caseworker for the Department of Children and Families. Series ran for six seasons on the CBS Network and in the end, we saw Amy quitting the judiciary so that she could move ahead for the U.S Senate.
And, after Judging Amy, the lady surged into the role of Dr. Violet Turner, on the popular ABC series ‘Private Practice’. The series is a spin-off of the very popular medical drama, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’. Dr. Violet Turner is a psychiatrist who always tells people that focus helps to experience happiness in life, but her own life always lacks happiness. Throughout the series, we also see her questioning her own profession.
Working for Judging Amy had been an easy chore for Amy Brenneman, as she was the one who had co-created the series, based on the actual experiences of her mother. She was very clear about the concept of the show and also had the ideas of the next happenings on series. But, Private Practice is completely different, where she’s not the central character, and needs to share screen space with the rest of the star cast.
